Garment Claims – An Overview
Valette- takes its utmost to care for your garment. Though, we have an extremely low rate of garment issues, they will arise from time to time. In the dry cleaning business garment damage and claims can be very tricky due to multitude number of reasons, garment damage can arise. E.G. A care label may be improperly labelled or a garment may have a pull or a tear from a piece of jewellery, due to a wear and tear issue. Though no one is ever perfect, we try our best to limit any and all damage and deal with claims fairly. We encourage you to read this printable brochure about dealing with garment damage.
Valette encourages our customers to inspect your articles upon receipt. We will accept items for reprocessing that we have processed within 7 days of the order pick up date or delivery. Item must be returned to us not worn and in its original packaging. All claims and disputes must be reported within seven (7) days and settled through our Store.
We take extreme care in cleaning and processing garments entrusted to us and use such processes which, in our opinion, are best suited to the nature and conditions of each individual garment. Nevertheless, we cannot assume responsibility for inherent weaknesses or defects in materials which may result in tears or development of small holes in fabric that are not readily apparent prior to processing. We cannot guarantee against colour loss, colour bleeding, shrinkage, or against damage to weak and tender fabrics. No claim can be made against Valette for any garment that cannot withstand the normal cleaning process as indicated on the care label. It is assumed that any item brought in or collected for cleaning is meant to be cleaned with one of our cleaning processes. We cannot accept responsibility for any item that is not meant to be washed, dry cleaned, or wet cleaned unless noted in writing prior by the customer.
Valette’s liability with respect to any damaged items shall not exceed twenty (20) times our charge for cleaning that garment regardless of brand or condition. Once a claim for garment damage is submitted we analyse the cause of the damage. We will report our findings to you. If you do not agree with our assessment, we offer the opportunity for you to send your garment to Dry Cleaning Technology Centre . The cost for analysis is £160.00
If DTC finds Valette was negligent in processing your garment, we will reimburse the £160.00 ,start a claim for the damage. Valette is covered by insurance for garment damage caused by Valette.. We are liable for up to twenty (20) times the cleaning cost of the garment or(as determined by our Insurers).
We do our best to track loose items but we are not responsible for items left in or on your garments. This includes but is not limited to belts, jewellery, beads, detachable buttons, cufflinks, etc. Please make sure to empty your pockets prior to leaving items with us. We cannot be held responsible for damage to your garments from items left in pockets.
Leather and Suede
Valette is believed to be the only Company in the Region who have the expertise and Technology to process an leather, suede and Fur items In-House. We take every precaution and care to process each item individually, however, there can be a risk attached to dry cleaning these garments due to multitude of reasons, particularly with white, cream and pastel colour garments due to the fact that if an incorrect adhesive has been used at manufacturing stage , it can dissolve during processing which can leave darker streaks around seam areas, in this case Valette will not accept responsibly.
A disclaimer must be signed for all leather, suede and fur items as per our company policy.
Any missing items must be reported before leaving the shop or at the time of delivery. Valette makes its best effort to track every item that we process and will review all lost items claims on a case by case basis. Any items determined to have been lost by Valette will be reimbursed in accordance with our terms and conditions and shall not exceed twenty (20) times our charge for cleaning that garment or (as determined by our Insurers) regardless of brand or condition.
Deliveries and Manifest
At every delivery a Valette driver will present a manifest of all the items that are being delivered. The manifest has been checked for accuracy prior to delivery by Valette at our cleaning facility. At the time of delivery it is requested that the receiving party verify the accuracy of the manifest by counting all the items and matching them to the total number of items on the manifest. We also request a signature at the time of delivery. Once the manifest has been received and signed for all items listed on the manifest will be considered delivered. Valette assumes no liability for any garments once they have been received and signed for. We are not responsible for stolen orders delivered in halls, doorways, or unsecured areas, if the front desk at your building does not sign for orders etc.
Item Count/Order forms
Valette requests that every bag of clothing be accompanied by an invoice or an order form with the number of items in the bag and any special cleaning instructions. If no order form is located in the bag then the item count by Valette is going to be considered final.
